I have no money, no guild, and I'm totally clueless about the game these days.

Where or how should I go about gearing a new level 50 mid?

Thanks

^^ Not really...

Depending on class and buff situation, farming enough dragonscales and glass for a decent starter temp shouldn't take more than a couple of days assuming you play a few hours every night. It might be harder for someone who doesn't already know what they need etc, but here's a simple guide...

Once level 50:
1) Buy a decent set of ToA/catacombs armor in housing (just search for lvl 50+, 99%+ quality armor and you should get a bunch of hits).
1) Alternatively do the epic quests for a full set of better armor. You will probably need 2 players for the last steps though. Should take 2-4 hours.
2) Run the champion quests (2-3 hours) to get a good weapon. Mostly soloable, might need help at the last step. Also talk to the king to start gaining champion xp
3) Farm glass in ToA to buy your artifacts (how many you need depends on the class, look at templates on the class boards)
4) Farm dragonscales in the dragon zone to buy dragonitems and level your artifacts while doing so (how much you need depends on class)
5) Make a template, start RvRing ang spend your BP on MLs and CL xp.

Well, other than skipping your first 1), I agree completely. Note that Scales and Glass can be farmed starting in the mid 30s, so that's something you might as well get started on early.

If you're on Hib and need/want help with crafting or Epics, feel free to give a yell.

Please don't forget that you have to pay out the nose for ML10 gear.

Scales are best farmed off of red to a 50 mobs.

I tend to prefer doing the laby quests to push to CL5 and get the fully unlocked version of the champ weapon rather than wasting time with the champ quests these days.

Option 1: don't use ML10 items
Option 2: go raiding and do ML10 PvE a zillion times

At least in this game, you can opt for option 1 and still be competitive.
