...like we used to have.

I'm so sick of being forced to do a thorough check for whatever random reason they game thinks it needs it.

It's bad business if your game makes your customer consider playing something else instead of bothering to put up with the wait.

Just make a batch file to do this instead...

echo off

cd sounds

Copy MY02_01a.wav Mythic.wav

cls

echo BOOM file replaced with a nicer quieter sound

cd..

Start Login.dll

This does 2 things, gets rid of the BOOM sound at startup and bypasses the patcher except on patch days. Create the Batch file, place it in your DAoC directory and run it.

Why should the user be required to find ways around the annoyance?

The thorough check was once optional. For some reason Mythic, in their infinite wisdom decided to make it mandatory and it's given nothing but grief to everyone ever since. So why not change it back?

They could even require us to do a mandatory thorough check once a month, or after every patch, or once a week, etc. But more than once a night it just plain idiocy.

I dunno, do you think maybe they had a good technical reason to do it the way they're doing it?

I like the way it works now, and I don't see the need for the batch file anymore either. The long check now works correctly in that it only has to be done once, as long as you log all the way in. After that it skips the check entirely until the next patch.

At least that's the way it now works for me. Or there is a bug plaguing you that's causing you to have to re-do the long check multiple times? If so, send in feedback because it's a bug.
