The computer stupid among us (that would be me) was able to figure this out from the directions in the link (and faster then the patcher):

If at the end you click on the file (like to open it) and if you got it right the game will pop right up to the login screen. Create a shortcut to the file and use that to login.
Should be noted that you need Notepad - I googled "how to create a txt file" to figure that out ... lol
Right-Click on the shortcut to change the icon.

The easiest way to skip the patcher is with LaunchPad. It also skips the log-in program.
With LaunchPad, you click an icon that represents a toon and next thing you know, the toon is logged in and the game is open on the screen.

LaunchPad can also adjust screen brightness automatically when DAOC becomes the active window.

Thanks for this - it's taking over 30 minutes to log in each time again - how ridiculous.

Which is the main reason why I posted this, I have a pretty decent setup, and decent connection. For the casual gamers... I am sure they will tire of this quickly !

30 minutes? Really or is this hyperbole? Are you still using a P3 on dialup or something? Even with a full patch the patcher is done for me in 2-3 minutes and I'm running on cellular internet.

It was taking me almost 15 minutes to run the patcher using DSL speed so I could believe 30 minutes is not out of the question for some people.
