Alrighty Im hoping i'll receive some feedback on here...

Hi everyone, Im thinking about starting fresh and playing DAoC again, but I have a few questions...

First a little bit about me (who cares) ... Played for "x" years (I don't remember all I know is I had the Elder title) until my i lost my email account and my parents shut down my account (I had 11 50's at that point... It was a forced hiatus) 5 years ago...can't believe im going on 22 already.. I was around for original DAoC, SI's grand entrance, Housing, ToA's letdown, DR, LotM...

Anywho, I was wondering:

1) How much the game has changed? I heard about the new ywain servers

2) How excessive are people with botting now?

3) How is the population... more specifically how balanced are the 3 realms? Does anybody hold most of the frontiers for weeks on end, or can i expect a constant battle?

Im lookin' for a group friendly person or guild or somebody who wouldn't mind taking me under their wing, I don't want to be forever alone.jpg...I'll play whatever realm/class that's needed I'm not picky, just want to meet new people and enjoy the game.

Anyway thanks for letting me waste your time, hope to hear back!

My situation was much the same when I returned at the end of November. Ywain is the only game in town, but it assures a decent population. Much of the game is easier, and leveling is incredibly easy. However, RvR is really about your template and Master Levels, and what toys and timers that gives you, and it's pretty zergy much of the time. Starting from scratch (I had to do this as well), be prepared for a long haul in terms of farming the needed coin, along with dragon scales and Atlantean Glass for equipment, master levels, etc.

2) How excessive are people with botting now?

Do a /who in any realm to see total numbers ... then do a /who <bot class> ... That class will always be the largest single percentage of characters online in any of the realms. That said, you can get buffs from NPCs in the frontier for a few gold.

3) How is the population... more specifically how balanced are the 3 realms? Does anybody hold most of the frontiers for weeks on end, or can i expect a constant battle?

Albion leads in population, followed by Midgard. Hibernia's population seems to fluctuate a lot, but is generally lower than Midgard's. Relics change hands frequently, with Albion usually making large power plays now and then and Midgard returning the favor every so often. Hibernia grabs a relic here and there only to lose it within a couple days - if that. So, yeah, pretty constant out there. Lot of keep farming some weeks.

Im lookin' for a group friendly person or guild or somebody who wouldn't mind taking me under their wing, I don't want to be forever alone.jpg...I'll play whatever realm/class that's needed I'm not picky, just want to meet new people and enjoy the game.

Albion is probably the easiest realm to meet other players in. Some of that is due to the population advantage that realm enjoys, but people playing that realm seem a bit more gregarious. Midgard isn't bad for meeting people, either. In my (just over 2 months now) experience, Midgard's regional chat is the one I'm least likely to turn off out of the 3 realms. Hibernia is really a mixed bag: sometimes everyone seems pretty cool; other times not so much. My wife and I started out in Hibernia (since they are the underdog), gave Albion a brief try (my wife hated it for various reasons), and will probably end up primarily in Midgard as my wife likes her characters there the best in addition to the previously mentioned community in that realm. You see guild recruiting messages in the various chat channels; you'll probably end up just answering one of those at some point. As to classes, I'd play whatever makes you happy because believe me, everyone who's been playing for awhile probably already has just about every class in their stable of 50s anyway. Good luck!

Anyway thanks for letting me waste your time, hope to hear back!

Even though your email has changed, if you remember the secret word you can still get your old account back by calling Mythic.

All accounts are now LotM. Purchasing the game is not needed as LotM is free to download/install. Only a monthy sub fee is needed.

Ywain is a TOA server.

/Level is not available on Ywain.

Even though there are 10 Ywain servers, there is only one Ywain game area.

Mythic created Ywain because Mythic needed to continue clustering servers but there was a problem. The existing clustered databases were so huge that Mythic could no longer combine the databases, which meant they could not form a new cluster (yet they needed to cluster the final servers together to keep the population up to keep RvR viable).

Their solution, create a new server (Ywain) that everyone, all active players, will transfer to (everyone transfers except Mordred and the Coop). There are 10 Ywain login servers that are just character holding areas. The 10 login servers allow players to transfer up to 100 old characters to the new server and there are 10 housing areas, but Ywain 1-10 is only one server.

The old servers will be maintained as character holding areas for returning players, so returning players can come back and transfer toons over to Ywain.

Lots of info about Ywain is on the Herald at a link called, "Archived Server Transfers".

BobsUI is one of the better UIs that is still being updated. It has features/options from many good UIs and it has Valmerwolf maps.

Charplan is the character planner that everyone uses now. It is a stand-alone program that you download and install and it is great.

Thanks a lot guys! I would call Mythic/EA support w/e it is now and tell them my secret word if i knew it... But I was so young and my parents set that all up. They don't even remember the password I used . I definitely need Bob's UI. My main was an alb Friar (when their styles didn't do heals but hit like a truck). I'll probably go Mid or Alb, because i tried Hib on a free trial last night and had no luck with people there. Thanks again!

It may be worth a shot and try to make a short-list of possible SW's and/or passwords hoping you can guess it.

I've forgotten many passwords and even my SW but fortunately I guessed it after a few tries and the EAMythic guy had no problem with that.

Midgard is definitely a fun choice. I could help out a bit, though I'm not on too much. Try me in game or leave a message here.

the game has changed that almost everything is pretty reasonable price wise.

threw some amazing temps on my theurg, valk, warrior, ani and a few temps for friends. would have cost me a couple mithril for these temps in the old days, got it done for under 150p. and that is buying straight from housing without trying to haggle prices.

super economic game...unless you want the ml10 stuff.
