Simple means of getting caught up?

I haven't logged in to DAoC in.... years.... Too many years
Anyway I'm back to give the game a shot again, I have a level 50 scout on Ywain but I can tell I'm woefully behind as far as gameplay and gear.
I figure the best way to get the hang of the game again is to just play, which will come in time.
But as far as how to compete in RvR, what should I be looking to do to gear up so as not to get slaughtered constantly? I'll mostly be playing solo, so I'm going to assume that if something requires a group, I'm not going to get it.
Is there any easy to obtain bows, armor, accessories that I should be going after? I'd appreciate any direction! Thanks!

It's a whole new world now. Wheather it be farming glass, scales or using BP to purchase stuff, its all for the taking. Everything is at the hand of a merchant these days. ofcourse like always you'll have to tweak your template, but getting the items is a ton times easier now.

About the only thing that you can't get "on your own" is the ML 10 gear and a few other high-end loot items. Otherwise, you can farm for alternative currencies (bps, scales, glass) that you can use to buy bp items, dragon loot, dragonslayer armor tokens, MLs, artifact credit and scrolls. With these you can set up a decent template.
edit: of course bps are through rvr kills
