The guy's just a dev. I don't know what all you guys are expecting. I work at a software company, and am outsourced to the customer site. the other two guys from my company both write code. They nearly never interact with the customer. In DAoC terms, that would be us. There's no reason for a developer to be out here posting on vn or talking to the community at all. That's someone else's job.
This guy may not even be a coder. He might be responsible for ideas; as a CSR he'd be familiar with the complaints he gets, the kind of bugs that are commonly encountered, the kind of exploits that people appeal, etc. That kind of input at a meeting with people who make decisions is still development, but might never require him to touch code.
Seriously, this announcement was just politically motivated to make us think that still care and are trying to improve the game. I doubt this guy is doing anything other then the testing he was doing before...and maybe sitting in meetings from time to time.
