Before when I played in Thidranki you could use poisons according to your envenom level even above your own level.
Now my lvl 25 and 26 poisons apply but don't fire and yes my env lvl is 26 with bonuses or I wouldn't be able to apply them.
From the Herald:
"Q: Do +envenom give access to higher level poisons?
A: Yep. Because of the way that envenom works (your skill in envenom determines the poisons you can use, character level does everything else) they've allowed it to work that way. Realm Rank bonuses also contribute to this as well. "
Any ideas?
Thanks

No, I was superpissed about this too and I got no answers.
I checked the boards, asked in game and even went through the herald.
Most people (it seems) never spec'd higher than their own level in envenom and therefore didn't notice the change I assume.
Apparently now you cannot use poisons higher than your level even if your composite spec is above your level. It will let you apply the poison, I believe but it will not actually fire off in combat because it is too high above your level.
I had to respec all my high envenom stealth characters when I got back.
No more level 25 DoT in Thid, sorry.
...anyone I asked in game about this said that this was the way it had always worked. Yup, no one noticed the change.

They changed if last year(?) so that assassins can't poison weapons for other classes or above their level.

I wouldnt say it was overpowered. in thid thats only a few more points of damage. With the cap to +skills at every level, not like you could get lifebane in molvik.

Well at least 2 of us noticed....it was a lot of spec points to spend anyway.
Funny some people say this was overpowered, what about nightshades in Thid casting for over 100 damage per cast?
No wonder this game is dying.

nightshade nukes are situationally overpowered....unlike shaman damage add which is overpowered in all circumstances a shadowblade might be fighting in.
As GrendelRex pointed out though, this change was implemented to stop players from using "poison bots". Setting it to your level was probably the easiest way to implement the fix in the code, and wasn't imbalancing at all. Its not like assassins are gimp because they can only use poisons their level.

I did not know that they changed how the envenom cap worked for assassins. I knew they changed poison so that non-assassins are prevented from using poisons but I did not know it changed things so that a level 24 assassin, who was 25 in envenom, could not use the level 25 poison
(perhaps it is a stealth change?)

Dark Age of Camelot
Test Version 1.104 Release Notes (Compiled)
General Changes
June 10, 2010
===================================
Attempting to equip a weapon without at least half of the required Envenom skill of the applied poison will cause the poison to be removed from the weapon.
The Dexterity Debuff from the Dexterity / Constitution poisons and the Weaponskill Debuff from the Weaponskill / Constitution poisons will not stack – these debuffs will not be applied if the target is currently under the effect of the other, and the poison will not be removed from the weapon if the debuff is not able to be applied.
Level 1 poisons will no longer be able to be used by non-assassins – these will be correctly removed from weapons when equipped by a character that does not have the Envenom specialization.
