If you let the house be repoed the house itself is gone, but everything in the vaults, house, and CM will be stored on an NPC.
There were two different repo systems that operated and there may still be two different systems.
One repo system, created long ago, was initiated by the rent not being paid. If the home was repoed because the rent was not paid the homeowner lost everything except the items on the CM and the items in the vault. Trophies, furnishings, etc . . all go poof and vanish.
Later Mythic implemented a repo system for canceled accounts. For a canceled account repo the only thing lost is the porch and the location of the home (sometimes location is important). When a home is repoed due to a closed account the repo bankers will have the trophies, a home deed for the lost home, plat that was on the CM, the furnishings inside and out, the CM, the bind stone, the merchants, crafting tables, etc. . . . almost everything is saved.
I may have missed the patch notes but I have not read where Mythic changed the system for a repo due to lack of rent. If a player leaves the game it is always a good idea to have enough money on the CM to pay years and years of rent, that way the home is never repoed due to lack of rent.
