Hi there, a friend and myself have decided to return to DAoC after a very long retirement, and plan on playing a skald/valk duo +bot. I just had a few questions as it seems the game has had some big changes since I quit.

First off I am unsure as to where to level. Currently I'm just working my way through the tutorial to re-orient myself, but after that where should we go? Are task dungeons still the way to do it, should we level in old dungeons, BGs?. What about gearing up? I've transferred over a few characters so I have a decent amount of plat but I would rather save it for when we need to template out at 50.

How are the BGs, specifically Thid/Molv? Do leirvik/CV get much action?

Any other tips and advice(constructive please) anyone may have I would very much appreciate, and it feels great to be back.

Welcome back to the game.

Midgard is a pretty populated place, but there are tons of places to level.

Grind your way to level 10 any way you can.

Level 11-14: Do the Hills of Claret quest in the battlegrounds. Very fast experience.

Level 15-19: Do the Killaloe Quest in the battlegrounds. You kill 10x of a certain creature and get 3-4 bubs of experience. It's really fast exp. You should hit 19 in an hour or so.

Level 20-24: Do the Thidranki Quests in the battlegrounds. Same drill as Killaloe.

Level 25-29: Do the Braemar Quests in the battlegrounds.

Level 30-34: Go to New Frontiers. Port to Svasud Faste, then travel east along the border to the relic keep. Past the gate there will be nothing but orange and red mobs. It's usually camped but it gives great experience. At this point, I recommend you getting your Orion's Belt. It'll be a nice boost of xp when you do all your quests and take over a keep in bg's.

Level 35-39: Head to Molvik and just kill the humanoid mobs to the far east (or is it west) over the lake. Hardly anyone goes there and you can kill Arawnites all day.

Level 40-48: A few options. You can do the "Melt the Ice" quest available at Vasudheim in the bar. It'll take 10 minutes travelling to and from Muselpheim and teleporting back with a guild portal stone and your personal bind stone. Usually you can bypass all this horse travel and teleportation with two ML10 sojourners. Otherwise, it's not so terrible. While you do this, I recommend starting your Master Levels by talking with your arbiter.

Level 45-49: I recommend you start your farming at Thusia Nesos in ToA. The exp isn't incredible, but it allows you to get exp. and level your master levels at the same time. The mobs (will con red and purple to you and your friend) also drop glass, so once you fill up your Master Level bar, just go to the arbiter to increase your ML.

Level 48-50: Commander quests. These can be obtained at the borderkeep Svasud Faste. They all offer you a decent level of xp. My recommendation is you take all the quests at once since there are a few that are in the New Frontiers that can be done all at once.

Level 50: Once you hit Master Level 9, try to get in a few ML10 raids. They will probably prefer you having a tank (Valkrie will be okay, Skald might be harder to get in), a hunter, a healer, or a caster with Greater Focal Myth. You'll want this raid because the Astral weapons and armor are the new shizznit.

They can range from 20plat to 150plat per item. You'll want them for the insane procs or to afford you the money to buy a lot of seasonal gear with quests that have since ended.

About the Battlegrounds: About the bg's... they're all actually pretty active. And you'll be surprised there may also be action in Lion's Den, Hills of Claret, Killaloe, and Braemar because people are usually doing their quests there.

Molvik is my personal favorite. As a mid, you'll always find other mids to work with. Valks are really insane there and I have only seen them fall to reavers every once in a while. As a duo, you guys should be able to find decent action.. but be careful, because occasionally you will get zerged. Lots of action up until "stealth time".. again with your valk friend, it won't be too much of an issue.

Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it! My friend and I discovered the BG quests last night, which has made things much easier. And thanks for the ML10 raid info, I saw stuff in /region and was wondering what a GFM caster was lol.

Do Zaree's quest (the kid with the dog right outside the main city) it gives you a hat that will instantly transport you to SI every time you put it on. Very useful way to teleport anywhere, anytime.
