Was going to hold out for a classic server but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen at this point so....Ywain it is.
What realm has the least pop/needs the most help nowadays.

Hib's hard to get started in to hear many people tell the tale though. They say it's pretty hard to get into groups if you dont know people. I can't speak for that myself, but it's what I hear. Just something to think about when making a decision. Also, you can move your old toons from wherever they were to ywain, which might save you some effort.

origins isnt going to happen. Anything that splits the remaining population would be fatal at this stage of the game.

All of my characters are on Mordred, when I /freexfer it says they are not eligible. Is there a way to xfer them to Ywain or do I have to start new ones?

In that case, you're hooped. They haven't let Mordred players leave xfer to ywain yet, and one has to wonder if they ever will. They (Mythic) have not done so (IIRC) because of the issues with players having stuff from different realms. I'm pretty sure Mordred players have even asked to move their toons naked, and start from scratch to ywain..and still nothing.
So in short, if Mordred is the only other place you have toons, then yes, you'll have to start fresh, or buy an account. Heck it's possible at this stage of the game someone will GIVE you an account.
