Hi,

Im played lot of online pvp games, like warhammer, lotro, now rift,

but never played daoc, but hear online good things about it,

so i want to give it a try.

Can someone help me with server, side, a good guild...

normally i look everything up by myself, but i think a lot people have experiences with it

thanks in advance

PS. What make the game so differences from other games, like wow, war...?

Even its already lot of years old?

Well there's really only one active server. Pick any ywain server and you'll be fine.

What makes this game different is how the frontier works. It's just a large open zone with a bunch of keeps and mostly player driven goals.
The second big thing if you get really serious about it is the combat system, which you'll just have to figure out yourself

Grind yourself to 20ish by hunting the battlegrounds.
Do the quests given there.
You can be 20 in a few hours.

Ask questions in /advice channel or the starter guild channel as needed.
Announce you are a new player, should garner support from friendly players.
As you close in on level 15-20, start looking for a guild to join.
Plenty of guilds recruiting, just listen for them.

The first goal is to get to level 24 for the first quality PvP battleground, Thidranki.
However it is important that you join a guild sometime between level 15 and 20,
so your guild m8's see you grinding on your own for a few levels.

This is key, because they will see you as a self-starter
and will be more apt to give you free stuff. The free stuff
you want is player made armor/weapons that is spell-crafted.

Be friendly in guild chat, involve yourself only socially;
do not accept PL's unless they are first offered to you.
Hit level 24, then ask your guild for ideas about being geared
up for Thidranki. Go play a fun BG till you level out or cap
Realm Points there.

Once you level out of thidranki, do battlegrounds again until
they stop giving quests. You can hunt the PvE mobs there for
double xp, but no more quests makes it seem slow.

Get to level 39 as fast as you can.
Molvik is the next battleground that has pvp action.
Get a new template for Molvik

Cap out your RPs in this battleground.
You can get 3L0 or 3L5 (can't remember which)
Much easier to get RPs in Molvik for a new player than it is at level 50 RvR.

Once you cap out RPs in Molvik, ask your guild about quests to get to 50 asap.
Depending on the class you choose will determine the best choice for RvR for you.
Zerg, 8man, small man, duo, solo, stealth zerging-POS, etc.

^That should guarantee a positive DAOC pvp experience for you.

worry less about a "good guild" sub 50, and just focus
on getting through the two battlegrounds listed above.
Any guild that will support your progress with gear is
more than good enough.

Keep in mind, while gearing up for Thid and Molvik will
be mildly to wildly expensive for you, it's probably chump
change for an accomplished level 50 in your guild.

Veteran guild m8's will be glad to throw you a bone, i.e.
craft for you and toss you some major coin as long as they
don't perceive you as a leeching idiot who won't do any work
on his own.

But yeah, the guild you are in really is not important until
you can narrow down what it is you'll be focusing on in RvR at
level 50.

Don't feel bad jumping ship if you outgrow the guild
you were in, just be respectful and try to pay forward any help
you received.

it's pretty easy even without a guild. if you're not gonna stay in thidranki for longer than the two or three days it'll take you to max RPs, it's not really worth the time/effort to make a template. you should have decent enough stuff just from doing the new quests, from what I've seen so far as I'm leveling a hib character for the first time.

Sent a message to me in Midgard on either Laertis-Ywain6 or Hamingja-Ywain6 and I can give you some help.

Welcome to the game!
