So I heard about the reduced subs. cost offer, along with the changes to slam and dw skills and decided to give Ywain cluster a shot. I've been gone for a while now and Im curious to know what the realm balance is like nowadays...since I have no ToA geared toon anyway I've decided to start a completely new one and I'm looking for a class that can hold it's own in 1v1 aswell as be usefull in 8v8 or zerg vs zerg whatever it is that's happening these days.


I've always favored melee classes, and I will also be getting proper buffs so what would you suggest? Never had a rr5 toon on hibs and vw seems interesting cos of it's versatility but are there better options, keeping in mind the current state of the game and realm balance?

Warriors and Berserkers are always solid choices.

Armsmen and mercenaries as well.

There are buffbots at most RvR zones so having a second account isn't necessary anymore.

If he is referring to the NPC Buffers located at the frontier side portal keeps and labyrinth, and you are planning on grouping, then yes, you do not need a bot anymore.

However, if you plan to solo, you'd be a fool to take the NPC buffs over a real bot, unless your class is already self buffed and only needs 1 or 2 buffs (tics, archers, vamps come to mind)

Thanks for the info(and warnings). Turns out I have sort of ToA templated nightshade on my account and for the few runs I've done in rvr it's been quite a lot of fun, much more so than I expected of low rr toon...even found some other soloers, tho many of them much higher rr than me. I'll probably level an other toon for pve at some point, to re-template the ns if for nothing else..what classes are most welcome for SI, ToA farming etc.?

pbaoe or Mana chanter for focus pulling.

Vampiir or Ranger for solo lower lvl mobs (don't need group).

If you are die hard to play a VW, they are a great amount of fun to level (even without buffs). Over the years I had brought w of them to 50 and enjoyed it.

RvR can be fun, but they required a lot of finesse.
