I played mainly pre TOA and came back for a few months about 4 years ago?


I am rolling up a new toon to get familiar with things again. I remember hitting dungeons for aurulite to help buy gear while leveling. Is this still the way to go for a new toon?

Actually, for leveling, now I would recommend the battlegrounds.


They each have 3 kill PvE mob quests where you get lots of xp and some aurulite. They also sell aurulite level-appropriate gear there.

I am sad to say that now that I've been back in the game for a bit, I'm not convinced that DAOC is worth a serious return even though I'm pretty desperate for a decent PvP game. The nostalgia's fun for awhile, though. I won't ramble on here -- my thoughts are nothing earth-shattering or novel. It's simply that the environment in the game has changed a lot, and sometimes you really can't go "home" again.

Enjoy your return, for whatever it's worth, and hopefully you'll enjoy yourself.

I thought I'd pitch in 2c since I came back to DAoC last summer after a several year break:

In short, it's a very different game, and you're certainly not going to see many people running around the traditional newbie areas (which was rather sad). If you're mainly interested in RvR, though, there's a bunch of fun to be had once you get used to how it is today. If you have the patience, I'd recommend hopping back in the game and giving it a try.
