I'm currently in the process of trying to play DAoC on my macbook pro, and just when I thought I was ready to play again, I get blue balled. I've got windows 7 and am running it through bootcamp with Directx 11 installed. After downloading the latest patch through the client, I pick a server and every time I receive this error: "Renderer Creation Failed!"

I called Mythic's DAoC support and both the guys I talked to had little to offer in way of a solution, or even explanation.

For reference, this is my computer: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html

If anyone has successfuly run DAoC on a macbook pro, and/or has experienced a problem similar to this one, or just has any general tips or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I use an older model (~2 yrs) MacBook Pro as my bots PC, but under XP and Bootcamp.

Works fine for me and I can even run dual bots too w/o crippling lag.

I know I've gotten that error many times in the past, usually when I needed to update my video drivers. Other time I get that error on my Mac is when I try to run DAoC under an Emulator inside an OSX Window. (Not too surprising really, but hell I had to try it!) I have to boot into Windows to get games to work generally.

That's a relief, since I think we're using the same laptop (my MBP was bought summer of '09). The guys at mythic support told me I need a new video card, but I find that hard to believe because, as far as I know, you can't just upgrade a MBP's video card. I tried updating my drivers while using Windows 7, but I'm not particularly used to that OS so there's a chance I did it incorrectly.

For reference, I followed these steps: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-update-vistawindows-7-drivers-instantly/

When I did that it said there were no new updates for me. I could have done it wrong though, as I'm pretty far from being computer savvy.

I'm running my main on a brand new macbook pro w/win 7, and my bot on a 4 year old mac book pro with xp (I'm staying with some friends atm due to knee surgery, not getting around too well) and havent haad much in the way of troubles. Have you tried booting into the mac side and updating everything there, including bootcamp?

I'm gonna say, try installing DX9 on that computer.. Since the game doesn't use DX11 at all..

another option for you guys, is try VirtualBox instead of Bootcamp.
This way, you load your OSX up, and then open VB.. Install whatever OS you want to run in it, and
presto, you're using that OS.. A little sluggish here and there, but really not bad at all..

Best part is, VirtualBox is FREE!

I have virtual box installed for my linux VMs. I'd rather play daoc using bootcamp; it's been working flawlessly for me for years.

For the money you spend on buying the mac.. you can get 2 decent PCs and a lifetime subscription to daoc for 2 accounts!
