So, this is my way of leveling from 40-50. When not playing an Archer class (I have a different formula with them).
Additionally, note, I have a lot of plat in each realm... and really don't need to do quests that offer a lot of money; if this is your first character:
Go to Vasudheim, talk to the inn keeper, get Melting the Ice: run the quest using /binds, bindstones, housebindstones, Foil hats, Sojo. You will hate running it after a while... but it'll be so worth it in the end (the ability to maybe buy... a few items in your template, some MLs from someone, the start of your crafting career).
Start off each level (except 43) by getting all the commander quest at your level (from 40-45, you should get 3, and then an additional 2 once the original 3 are complete). Most of these simply require 1 port to SI/Vasud/Svssud/Jordheim and talking to one NPC. Meaning that each level you gain about... 2-5 bubbles of XP for ~10 minutes of work. Then move yourself down to the catacombs, and there should be more quests at each level that offer some great XP.
@43, go spend 20g-100g and buy yourself 20 dragon based xp items (Mid: Drakulv Scale, Alb: Granite, Hib: Glimeer) and hand them in. It will cost you that gold and one horse/bird rides worth of time for ~3.5-5 bubbles of experience to start off level 43.
When you get to your high 40's (48+) take a look at completing some dragon based quests. Two (48/49) quests start in your main city, and simply require killing 1 monster or running to a location. Worth 1-2 bubbles and a lot of gold. Additionally, when you're running to the dragon zone, complete the first of many quest. It's a simple... kill an oj/yellow mob and then talk to an NPC in the Dragon zone. Remember to continually go back to the catacombs to see what quests are being offered.
I'd also like to note a Skald's being leveled, MTI will be less painful lol.
