There's no doubt that playing DAOC is a very social experience. You run into the same crowd each day, get into a guild, form bonds and friendships. Certain names pop into your head like Kzar, Toplin, and Gooby. You've see them around the frontiers, in your alliance, or guild. We all know the current zerg leaders, raid leaders, and relic takers. You get to know who to turn to if you want to do ML10, need a template, or want some spell crafting done. Whatever the reason, there are just certain names in game that you always remember.

I personally thought of Depstock when this subject came to mind. I ran with him quite a bit when he was gm of Freaks of Nature. He was the reason I rolled a druid. Many people remember him as being quite crass in game and there's no doubt at times he was. I remember him as being a lot of fun. He loved to instigate and trash talk. Then he would sit back and laugh at the reactions he got. He hated PVE, and getting him to a dragon raid was a nightmare, and took weeks to accomplish. He was always up for RVR, and often ran solo until the rest of his group logged in. People thought of him as somewhat of an elitist, but he wasn't that at all. He was actually a very private person with a quirky sense of humor, and preferred to stick with the friends that understood it. He enjoyed playing DAOC and was a lot of fun to run around with.

Two players from Percival Midgard:
* Leria - Runemaster. She was always very helpful and a nice individual. Now immortalized as an NPC in the shop in the Kobold Undercity, unless thats just a coincidence
* Voltarn - (I think that was the name, was originally Voltari or something like that but got changed), probably the game's most successful Thane, top RP scorer on Mid/Perc for a long time if I recall correctly.

One player from Percival Albion:
* Rosso - Paladin. I discovered he was playing on Albion as a Pally, and as it turns out one of their realm defense leaders *after* I had rolled on Midgard. He was an old friend from 20 years before (and still is). Since we were on opposite realms I mostly saw his corpse in front of a keep we Mids had just taken, but I did get to duel him a few times when we were both vertical. It was always an odd feeling seeing an enemy you knew in real life

I remember trifca raids on Hibernia Guinevere up until classic servers were released. One of the most patient raid leaders and we spent a good 4-5 hours doing Master Level 9. Yes, we waited for LD's, and there was lots of lag, some people weren't listening.. but for the most part, it was very fun and it was nice to explore different parts of so much of the game back then...

I have not seen Trifca is any incarnation since classic opened and the RP servers closed (a lot of RP players left the game ). If I ever did, I would go back to Hibernia in a heartbeat.
