Adventures of Melannya by Melannya
It began as any normal day...
I had just finished milking the old cow that was kept in the small barn out back when I heard a soft horn-like sound coming from the front of the cottage that I shared with my mother and younger sister. Heart racing, I ran as fast as my bare feet could take me and ended up colliding with young Deedranna. The crash sent us both flying, but thankfully I ended up landing in a soft flowerbed. My sister was not as lucky, and I helped her out of the watering trough. Needless to say, my now dripping wet sister was ill humored and snapped, "What is the hurry, Melannya! Look at what you did to the posies!"
Feeling a little chagrined, I began to apologize until I heard the horn again, but this time much louder. Deedranna heard it as well, and we both turned to watch a small procession of horse and riders approaching from the east side of our farmstead.

?I see you.? I whisper to myself as I peer down through the trees at a group of enemies of the realm.
They are from Hibernia from the looks of it. And from the looks of things they are moving a small horse-led cart, likely full of supplies. A couple of days ago a message was dispatched to the scouts in the forest that a small group of Hibs may have made it into our frontiers. The Defenders of Albion think they may be setting up a staging point to sack Castle Excalibur. If an enemy were able to take that keep, then they would have a good shot at invading into Albion. Right now, though, this group looks too small to even give the guards there a workout. Regardless, they are not from this realm, and I am here to make sure they never see theirs again.
I continue to follow the group as I share the space in the shadows of the forest. They don?t seem too concerned about their surroundings, but one firbolg is a little jumpy. I think I may have to take him out first. He seems to be a warden type. I don?t need him healing his allies as I try to drop them one by one. Then I will have to take out that elf with the large sword. He appears to be a champion. Heh, easy prey.

The two young lads sat under a tree and caught their breath. Ithrin?s heart raced as he jerked his head from side to side, looking about for pursuers. Ciaraan, on the other hand, simply marvelled at their new weapon. With a big grin on his face, he stood and started to fight an imaginary enemy, cobalt dagger in hand. ?Ciaraan!? Ithrin said harshly. ?We have to keep running! They?ll catch us!?
?Oh lighten up, Ithrin,? Ciaraan replied, spinning and stabbing the air. ?This happens to them all the time ? they?re not going to chase a couple of kids this far out of the city.?
Ithrin frowned, knowing full well that they would be chased this far. It?s just that Ciaraan had this uncanny ability to hide, leaving Ithrin to be caught and to take all of the blame. Just once he?d like to visit Nog with Ciaraan and not have him nick something off of the merchant tables. Although he had to admit, when they got away with it, it was rather exciting. As long as Ciaraan didn?t get too far from Ithrin, they usually were home free.
