Why is it so difficult to change your password from one you don't remember?

I'm in the password changing section of my dark age account whilst logged into my EA master account. When I go to change my Daoc password, it requires the old password first in order to change. I don't remember my old password which is the dilemma and I'm not having any luck turning over any other pages to help with this. They're all old and expired.

click on "forgot password"
I'm sure there is an option somewhat like that somewhere.

Try your original EA master account password as the DAoC password and see if that works.

Don't need it. I had the exact same problem as the OP.
Called em' up, told em I forgot my password, they asked my name, account name, and that was it. They gave me a temporary password and I made my new one. Easy!
