The rate of rp gain ungrouped vs grouped has been bugging me for a while now. When I run around ungrouped on one of my casters, I consistently make 25-35k/hr and often more. That's more than basically any group running, with the exception of bomb groups. While I'm glad I can make rps without relying on a group, at the same time, that's a massive disincentive to group. While I do enjoy playing solo, I also like playing my characters in ways that you can only do with a group to back you up, yet any group I join will significantly lower my rp gain.

I don't really know how this could be fixed, though. I don't want ungrouped rps to be lowered, and rp gain in groups probably shouldn't be increased. It just really doesn't seem right to me that in a mmo, the quickest way to advance by far is playing solo.

Edit: Also, this isn't just an issue in rvr. In most modern pve situations, it's more efficient to level or farm by yourself. For example, when I'm farming energies, I can farm them faster solo than I can with another person and having to split them. And for the big ticket items that require a group to get, it is often quicker to just solo farm plat and then use that plat to buy the expensive stuff. For leveling, unless you have a pbaoe pl group, it's pretty much always faster to solo.

Basically any time I group it slows me down in whatever I'm doing. I have to weigh the fun factor of grouping vs the loss of whatever I'm doing. That just isn't how a mmo should be.

what kind of casters do u play, a sorc? I'm lucky to make 15k an hour on my Mentalist with the rp bonus when that includes taking a boat to an enemies land to get constantly run over by duo's, trio's, or fg's.

Any caster, it doesn't matter. I've done it with theurg, sorc, cab, wizard, mentalist, spiritmaster, runemaster, and probably more at one point or another. Note that I said ungrouped, not by myself. While that does indeed include real soloing, it also includes zerg surfing, stand offs, coastguarding, siege, etc.

I say caster because that's what I generally do it with, but it's also very easy to make the same rps with any shearing class. Can even do it decently on a melee class if the action is right, although you definitely won't make as much.

This is nothing new it's just how it works... one of those reasons to roll your eyes when people ask about realm pride.

btw it's also not limited to "solo" zerg surfing. If there's a zerg of 60 bodies to give cover it's certainly easy enough to make up a group that is solely designed to siphon rps off.
