for some reason the chest can have up to 37 imbue points. But I don't know if that means 37.5, I just remember someone saying that the chest can have "up to 5 points OC". I'm pretty sure that ingame, it rounds down to the nearest whole number, so its debatable what 5 points OC really means. Regardless,I recently made a couple of Molvik templates with up to 34.5 on most pieces, and 35 on the chest, and they all worked fine. So take from that what you will.
Keep in mind, its pretty unlikely you need to use all the imbue points anyways. Most of the molvik templates I made could be done with 2 pieces left entirely blank. One problem is you need 4 spellcrafted gems in order to get the 5th slot bonus. Also, because I had extra utility I decided to make the template work as a PvE template until 50, so I overcapped skills to +11, and stats to +101 to compensate for when I eventually leave Molvik.
37.5 works fne on chest, I did that just the other day on a level 51 Dragonsworn chest and the bonus level came out at only 38.
Whether you need all the imbue points or not depends on the class. I've made a lot of different templates for Molvik and casters are usually very easy to template, as are straightforward melee classes like Skalds, Vamps and light tanks. Usually a bit trickier for hybrids and supports, but by far the hardest are stealthers. Assassins usually eat up every available imbue point as they need the biggest range of different caps, stats and skills of any class.
