Try installing the game in C:/DAoC instead of installing it in the Program Files x64 folder

Well, thought I had it, walked away and... yeah not so much.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

This all is before I even get to an installer. The following is what happens when I try to use "DAoCSetup.exe" from the download link off of Darkageofcamelot.com.

This error is how it starts when attempting to run it from the default download folder:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I then attempt to run it as an administrator and after the "Do you want to allow this program to modify your computer" or whatever window I get:

"Windows cannot find 'C:\User\C\Downloads\DAoCSetup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

Even though the file is there plain as day.

I then went to the "Troubleshoot Compatibility" tool and the "Try recommended settings" wants to run it in Windows XP SP2 mode. When I click the "Start the program..." button nothing happens whatsoever.

I then proceeded to restart my PC and go through the previous steps with the same results.

After that I tried multiple other operating systems through the compatibility tool. And clicking the "Start the program..." still does nothing for all of these.

Out of ideas at the moment, anybody else run into anything similar?

What browser did you use to download DAoCsetup.exe? Did you use a download helper in Firefox or use IE and just “save” the DAoCsetup.exe to a folder? Sometimes a download helper will create problems with a file when downloading the file. Try using IE to download the setup.exe and save it to C:/.

Another WAG to try.

Antivirus programs are usually set to scan downloaded files. It does not often happen but I have seen an antivirus cause trouble with a setup file that was corrupted as the antivirus scanned the file during download. Shutting off the antivirus and downloading again solved the trouble in that case.

Also, some antivirus programs can cause trouble when a setup program runs. You should try shutting off the antivirus and download the setup again and try to run the setup without the antivirus running. There are no viruses in the DAoCsetup.exe.

Probably not the answer but check under Access Control Settings under control panel/user accounts. Make sure it's the lowest it can go.
