Looking to roll a Hybrid and cant decide between the two. Also will have a bot to go with them. Just wondering which would be better for either solo or grouped RvR. Also if I need plat can I farm high level ToA/Laby mobs with either of them using my bot? I know everyone says use a ML9 pet class but I just cant get into playing a caster.

Both are very fun classes. So, really, what it comes down to is you looking them up and figuring what you like to play.
Both are valid solo, and decent grouped... Valks probable make better overall duo partners, because of heals, but that's it really.

There are a lot of Labyrinth mobs that can be duo'd by a Tank and a Healer; it's just much, much, much easier using a pet (focus + ML9 = Mass pulls and/or high level mob quick killing).

what about ToA mobs? I also have a Valk+Shaman and im broke need to farm some plat. What drops good stuff? I never really played much when ToA was at its height. Now no one does it other than ML7 dungeon for PBAoE glass groups or the occasional ML10 raid. What could I solo as a s/s valk, also have a warrior if that would work better with a shaman bot?

Valks get charge and insta heals/HoTs that in itself gives them a edge over reavers.

If the pve part is important you should roll a valk, even with spear its a strong farmer with a bot, due to the possibility of bouncing aggro with heals.

A valk is a decent rvr class also ofc.

Edit: Most farm Afriits in TOA and exchange the essences for mob loot that sells well and you would probably be limited to that w/o a ml9 pet class. You can kill Colossals (big scorpions in Stygia) for a few hundred glass each time too, adds up in the end.

most likely valk is the better choice. reaver can be useful though with their pbae debuffs and banelords

Since you're talking 1v1 only as it applies to Reaver vs. Valk, let me be the one to say how silly it is to use the word "cheesy" and direct it at only one of these two classes.

Fact is, both are cheese to face in 1v1.

Fact also is Charge is win for both getting groups and in solo play. Just because you're soloing, 99% of the other players are not, and the vast majority of them is not afraid to farm you for free RPs. Charge and insta heals will mean LOTS of avoided deaths at the hands of 3+ attackers that Reavers simply can't match.

Other then 1v1s with people dumb enough to get spanked by a Reaver, they are only fun if you like to wait out RuTs to melee down 2-4 Rogues (depending on RR) at a time at your local bridge or inside a keep, but they're almost entirely useless in groups as they're going to spend most of their time being CCed in group warfare.

Valks are far more versatile...very powerful solo, but also quite group friendly.

sure - you played daoc since poison love?

that statement is not depending on rr, it heavily depends on a iq below 10 and major motor disfunctions on all of those rogues.
