I played DAoC for many years....I'm guessing 9+ years.... I was thinking of coming back and playing again. I had a love hate relationship with this game. Some days were fun some days were bad, even with the bad days I seemed to learn what to do do or not to do, so I grew with the game. I have played many different games since leaving and just can't seem to get the same enjoyment out of the other games. I love strategy games and I feel DAoC gave the most for my money, and am considering coming back.
I was there for one of the first realm raids, ( guessing 200-300 player slide show battle for a relic) til about 5 months ago,
I ran with a fun Guild of about 20 players until many changes happened ( WOW,TOA, ETC.)and slowly the guild and friends left the game.
I still played the game, and adapted to a solo type player. I never could afford to pay for multiple accounts, so I solo'd for a couple of years as the guild died. My scout became my main character toon, and I learned I could enjoy the game with or without 8 others online.
One day my account just shut off, I have no idea why. I was paying by direct withdrawl from my bank account. It just shut down. I thought maybe Mythic/EA would contact me and say come back and try again. It's been almost 1 year and not 1 email has been sent to me. I am looking for a ever evolving strategy game, but being snubbed by Mythic/ea after 9 years sucks.
