I am looking for some new headsets so I figured I'd ask you guys some questions considering a lot of DAoC players use vent etc.

First off, I am generally not very hard on my computer stuff. I've had my keyboard for about 6 years, and my mouse I only recently had to replace after about 5 years (the clicker failed).

But headsets....omg....they seem to be my curse. I have gone through about 3 of these:

After those I bought:

This one lasted me for around 7-10 months, don't really remember when I bought it. They'd still work perfectly if the wiring in earpiece didn't get disconnected, no damage to them besides that and they look brand new. Just to clarify it was the wiring on the headset itself, not the wiring leading from the usb to the headset.

But the same kind of thing seems to be happening, bad wiring, or wiring failing, causing either the earphones or the mic to stop working. Atm I am using an old pair of the logitech premium usb headsets for vent atm, the mic still works fine, no audio tho.

Has anyone here found a good durable headset? I'm looking for under $100, but if you can tell me about ones that will last 5 years, going over 100 won't be problem.

I have a Barracuda headset from these guys that still works after prob 4 yrs or so, sound awesome but this particular headset had a detachable mic that quit working. The site says these are no longer available but the audio on these is still awesome. Just make sure if you order something that it wasn't designed to be hooked up to their audio card for the best performance (like my Barracuda's). Other than that, look for some Turtle Beach or Creative Labs but live tech support for Creative doesn't exist if you have issues with their products.

Whatever you do don't buy a platronics gamecon 777, the sound quality is good but they are extremely uncomfortable, they hurt my ears/head after about 20min of use
