Used to play a lot, was a scout in the very early days and played through the stealth nerf, then went off to heal via a druid and had a blast getting to RR10 ( was good back then ), is it worth coming back and as a UK player what is a good server?

I hear Ywain is pretty good.
Considering it's the only traditional server left.
Well.. there is Mordred (FFA PVP) and Gaheris (Co-op PVE)... for now. Populations are incredibly low, and the servers will probably be merged. The only reason this most likely hasn't been done, is because of the way characters rank up on those servers. (Characters on Gaheris for example get realm ranks for killing certain PVE mobs...)
And yes, it's worth coming back for. Star Wars sucks, you've probably played WoW too much like we all have, and AOC/WAR were failures. Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, and Dominus won't be out for a while... so sub for a month and give it a shot.

Come back but be warned.
Do not level a toon to endgame level 50 unless you have close knit of friends to group with. Otherwise you'll be standing at the frontier gates begging for a group. And even if you do find an average random group, it won't even come close to competing with all the knowledge and toys the big boys have gathered over the years.
My advice....
Stick to the battlegrounds. Make friends. Stick with those people. Try to hit 50 together and work at endgame. If you are the loner type, the endgame is not for you.

I agree 100% with Pillow.
The new Battlegrounds are great for new and returning players. Stay in them as long as you can. Particularly Molvik and Cathal Valley. (39 and 49)
If you want to play Midgard, and want a guild to run BG's/NF with, look up Einherjar's Vengeance, send me a tell on Cenk, and I'll help you out.

Far from a loner, but used to play in small guilds to log in and PvP all day long. but i assumed the game had moved on a lot and the PvE side really doesn't interest me, so thanks for the advice.

I'm going this route at the moment.

Make 2 toons, 1 of Molvik and other for NF.
actually for myself, at one point i had been playing Thid, Molvik and NF. But i started moving away from Thid as i leveled other toons, then stopped playing Thid for the most part when guild members finally vanished. Though still have a 24lvl Hero on my main account

This. And bots for each is where I'm headed. My friend Pdxpax has a high RR Shadowblade but he spends most of his time in Molvik. I love Molvik which is why I hate CV.

...and don't roll on Ywain 1 or 2 if you plan on staying a while and staking a claim in housing! Lots are hard to find on those 2 servers.

It was the best of times it was the worst of times...
daoc is often like that. The leveling via the battlegrounds is easier and faster than it ever has been especially for an actively played character relative to a powerlevel session. It's arguable now that the "real" leveling begins at level 50. Most people purchase ML's one way or another now and CL's are still a grind although they will just come if you give them time. And of course there's realm ranks.
The community is still struggling but because there's only 1 left it's kind of keeping people a little bit together. It's nothing compared to the golden age of daoc. When you find decent people who happen to be decent players make sure you keep track of them.
