I left DAoC after DR and was wondering what has changed?! I miss the RvR, to say the least! I used to play on Midgard-Guinevere. Are healers still viable these days, or should I roll with my Valk? I would like to find a group or something similar.

I have retrieved my old account information and will I be able to transfer my characters from guinevere over to the clustered Ywaine servers? If I am able to do so, will it cost me anything?

Lots of changes since you last played if it was around DR. Healer should be able to get groups fairly easily, especially if you're decent at it. Valks are good too. Who was your healer? I played alb-guin and hib on tint/killi.

You can farm/quest/buy glass, scales, etc for template items and ml's/arti's or use bp's. The tokens for credit to ml's and arti's are transferable so you can trade to other chars or even sell them. Also can use roots(hib), ice(mid) and souls?(alb) to get galla/tg/sidi gear.

ML10 and/or summoners hall items are in a most templates (SH loot got updated), but not required. Some people won't run without them, but you can get by if you can't get them right away. Effects some classes more than others, of course.

Hey welcome back. I just started back up myself yesterday ex-Guin here also. I have not played since TOA came out. I don't think it cost to transfer your chars. from the old servers. Even though I have bunch of 50's I'm just going to start new myself to get the feel of it again.

I rolled with Raging Fury and had a healer called Syveming (name was changed= ( ))) and my valk was Syve. Hopefully I'll be able to start up in the next couple of weeks! Thanks for the replies!

Also, are there many solo fights out there still? Do I have to camp a bridge for an hour just to get a fight ? = D

I don't 1v1 (main is a druid, 7 in nature ) so I don't really know. Most 1v1's get jammed anymore I believe, but not much different for everything else, really. Might get hit by 1, 2, or 8 more than you (sometimes a lot more). You can still get a 1v1 but never count on it. With everyone being on one big cluster, it gets zergy and even stealthers like to group up. You would have to ask someone who actually solos about where the best places are, etc.

Transfering from the archived servers to Ywain is free.


Ywain info:

Server population was dieing and to help keep server population up Mythic was clustering servers together. As the player population continued to shrink, Mythic needed to continue clustering servers but they had a huge problem, the database of old characters was becoming so huge (on the existing clusters) the database was becoming unmanageable. Because the existing databases were so huge, Mythic could no longer combine the databases, which meant they could not form a new cluster (yet they needed to cluster the final servers together to keep the population up to keep RvR viable).


Mythic’s solution, create a new server that everyone, all active players, will transfer to (everyone transfers except Mordred and the Coop). There are 10 Ywain login servers that are just character holding areas. The 10 login servers allow players to transfer up to 100 old characters to the new server, but Ywain 1-10 is only one server.


The old servers will be maintained as character holding areas for returning players; so returning players can come back and transfer toons over to Ywain.


If you have level 50s on the old Classic server, there is a quest that gives free ML credit before you are allowed to transfer.


Mostly it does not matter which Ywain you use, as all Ywains are really just one server, but housing on Ywain 1-3 is very full so if you are thinking of getting a house I would use a different Ywain than 1-3.


Charplan is a great character builder. It is a downloadable program and has all the updated stats.

I installed the client finally. But what of Master Levels? I understand 1-5 can be bought? What about 5-10??? Do I have to do some sort of dailies to accumulate points to purchase these levels?

You can purchase all ml's, artifact credit, and artifact scrolls with atlantean glass or bounty points. BP's are earned from RvR. New quests were added to toa zones to earn more glass or you can kill random mobs in toa zones.

What about Thidranki? Or anything of the sort? I had a level 24 infiltrator on Alb-Merlin who was decked out and had major titles =d. I'm assuming no one plays low level BG's anymore. =*(

Since the bg love/questing via the bg's patch---Thid has changed a great deal. Most seem to level thru it, and leave for the next bg. The majority of people, not all, but the majority that I see playing thid for rvr are stealth and/or speed classes. Many roam the pve circle looking to kill people trying to level from the quests. So basically, for the most part, it is not what it use to be. Since that patch Molvik and CV (Cathal Valley) seems to be the most RvR-centric of the remaining bg's in today's game.
