I created a trial account and downloaded the game from the website, Everything patched up fine... When I go to play I click the realm and the game crashes.. Any idea why this would be?

Welcome to Daoc! Sorry to hear you have this issue.

The game seems to crash often for some reason. I crash with 50% probability any time I talk to a Cleric/Healer trainer and sometimes I crash when I zone into capital cities. In that case I can't log on for at least 5 minutes afterwards it says I am being logged out.

Does anyone else have these issues ?

There is an issue with logging in during a certain time period

10-11:30am GMT seems to be a no-go for logging in

clients crash while zoning, stuck at char screen etc.

It's a universal problem suffered by all but EA/Mythic/Bioware have never addressed nor acknowledged it.

You just have to keep trying and eventually it'll load up fine.

Ah I see, thanks. I was wondering if I was alone in having these issues.
They are not game-breaking but can certainly be annoying.

Cheers.

Well, I played for about 5 years before, and I NEVER had any crashing issues, only the occasional LD which I know is a totally different story.

If you are actually CRASHING throwing an windows error instead of just going LD or being booted to char select, run a full file check in the patcher and see if that fixes anything. If that doesn't come up with anything try reinstalling from the DAoC web site.

A cupple notes: if you COPIED daoc from an old computer/OS, check the file permissions. A few read only files in the wrong place daoc will boot, but crash occasionally. Obviously always keep your video drivers updated to the latest version. You'd think that since daoc uses VERY old graphics it wouldn't matter, but new drivers are for changes to WINDOWS too, not just games. Lastly, if none of those work, hold F8 at boot up and ask windows to check your ram for errors. Ram errors are very hard to diagnose as most things are programed to be fault tolerant, but daoc being both old, and a video game that must be careful of "memory" tampering, will likely hard fault on hitting bad ram.
