SO i turned on windows mode to see what it looked like. But i guess I dont have the resolution to run it. It cuts off the bottom of the screen so I cant get back to the options screen and disable windows mode because the button at the bottom is cut off and I cant see it. Anyone know how to help? I can provide more info if needed.

Here are two ways:

1. Use the up arrow key to move DAOC's window up so you can see the Options button. To use the arrow key this way, on Windows 7, shift right click DAOC's button on the task bar. In earlier versions of windows, right click DAOC's button on the task bar. A menu will pop up. Click Move on the menu. Press up arrow. To stop moving the window, press Enter.

-- OR --

2. Edit DAOC's user.dat file with Notepad. First, shut down DAOC with Task Manager or by rebooting. Look for lines that say, "screen_height=" and "screen_width=". Enter reasonable, standard numbers for your PC. 800 x 600 will probably work on all PCs. Save user.dat and restart DAOC.

Either way, after you can see the Options button, you can make windowed mode work on your PC by setting "Resolution."

So, I tried both those ways, and I couldnt get #1 to work on my comp. I have 7, and all it did was shift the window up "physically" so i couldnt see anymore of the screen than previous it was just higher on my desktop.

So i went to phase 2. It took me a while to find user.dat, and I was gonna ask where it was, but i remembered the computer nerds best friend...google, and I found that pretty quick. I changed the resolution. And as far as the windows mode itself , it fixed it, however when I logged off of the char that I quick logged in the char menu was back to the same.. I couldnt see the options button. So i got distressed. I logged out and had an idea. I went back to the user.dat file (because I had a hunch about windowed mode) and saw a tab that said windowed=1, so I sat windowed=0 and when i logged back in it was out of windowed mode.

No reason to really be posting anything but "fixed it, thanks robbie" but I am pretty darn proud of myself and my limited computer skillz.

Also Robbie, you should advise anyone that plays a char that is hard to login(e.g. necro, sorc) to download mojo, i found if you use mojo and only mojo, to login to that char then you wont have any problems logging in. I think it lies in a corrupted file for the char settings, bars and such, so if you login through mojo a couple of times after deleting those -# and .ign files it will load properly, you will have to resetup your bars, but it will work from then on out. Dont quote me on that, but it hasnt failed me in a couple of weeks whereas before I had to clear those files and log in 5-6 times daily to get in.

Also, mojo allows you to get through some blocks. I know at some public places... libraries... hospitals for some reason wont load the patcher, but if you load your char through mojo it works.

Maybe old news? Idk..

You did good, grats! That was clever, figuring out how that setting works.

I'm glad you're telling people about this but I can't because I don't know anything about the problem. If Mojo helps with this, it's an accident and news to me.

That's interesting. It gives me an idea of where the bug may be in Mythic's software.

Interesting. Tht's probably because the blocking software relies on a list of particular programs and/or IP addresses.

Im not a computer person, so i could be mistaken, dont take it as cold hard truth. Anyway... an update. When you reset windomode the way I said, it just fixes it for the one char you were just on. So, set it to 0. Then load the char that char, go to char screen and turn off window mode the normal way that will allow it to set for all chars and not just the one you just logged off of.

Anyway, thanks for helping robbie, as always, you da man.

Not true at all, i had a 3rd account with a necro, and I was gonna pl a cleric. But then the account went down, so I was going to get out of window mode. And I had issues.
