I am a new player and totaly unsure of what realm to choose without the realm war page.
I played back in the day till just after cata. Played Hib back then but reading that is not realy a great place for noobs now days.
Any suggestions on realm would be usefull.
Far as class I am a mostly solo player due to my play time. I am completly undecided yet as to if i will have a buff bot but. My main goals are a lil RvR if i can get a group at my off peak hours (austrailian hours) and farming plat for houseing LOL was one of my favorite things about DAoC.

Well, when you say solo do you mean play alone or just not in a dedicated group setting?
The easiest class to solo sucessfully on nowadays is an archer (hunter/ranger/scout). There are plenty of stronger duelling or even 1 vs X classes, but the advantage comes from stealth, range and relative ease to play. Stealth or speed is pretty much mandatory if you play on peak hours tbh.
You now have easy access to near capped buffs, so that's not really an issue except for certain casters that have a hard time reaching the higher ammounts of dexterity required to cap casting speed.

Pretty much any class in a good template can be competitive. The classes I feel like playing solo at the moment are (organized by realm and listed in order of wanting-to-playitude):
Mid:
Aug/Cave Shaman
Warlock
Zerk
Warrior
Hib:
Vamp
Nature Druid
Alb:
Mins
Merc
Reaver
Armsman
