Played many years ago and enjoyed Daoc a lot.My friend recently re-subbed for 14 day free trial so I was wondering if any bothers with BG's any more.. specifically lowbie bg's like lions den and hills of claret.Really enjoyed the minimalist game and was hoping there may be a few who still ran there on ywain cluster.

people level in BGs now, fastest way to get where you want to go, so yeas, there are people in every BG most of the time

Good to know....does Daoc still have an /xp off command?Also do they give you insta-lvl20,I'm hoping not as that insta 20 was death to lion's den population.Sorry for all the question but seeing Daoc on the screen again wakened some long suppressed cravings

Ywain info:

Server population was dieing and to help keep server population up Mythic was clustering servers together. As the player population continued to shrink, Mythic needed to continue clustering servers but they had a huge problem, the database of old characters was becoming so huge (on the existing clusters) the database was becoming unmanageable. Because the existing databases were so huge, Mythic could no longer combine the databases, which meant they could not form a new cluster (yet they needed to cluster the final servers together to keep the population up to keep RvR viable).


Mythic’s solution, create a new server that everyone, all active players, will transfer to (everyone transfers except Mordred and the Coop). There are 10 Ywain login servers that are just character holding areas. The 10 login servers allow players to transfer up to 100 old characters to the new server, but Ywain 1-10 is only one server.


The old servers will be maintained as character holding areas for returning players; so returning players can come back and transfer toons over to Ywain.


If you have level 50s on the old Classic server, there is a quest that gives free ML credit before you are allowed to transfer.


Mostly it does not matter which Ywain you use, as all Ywains are really just one server, but housing on Ywain 1-3 is very full so if you are thinking of getting a house I would use a different Ywain than 1-3.


Charplan is a great character builder. It is a downloadable program and has all the updated stats.


Valmerwolf has great maps. For a good UI you can check the UI board.

People level and run repeatable quests there to get bp's. I will usually /xp off in Molvik and keep running the quests to save up all the bp's I will need to temp for Cathal.

Always always always.And at least RR out of Molvik.The frontier is not the time to learn your character.

hehehehe, I sure wish someone had told me that when I first started playing DAoC, would have been a great help, but in my case I waited and waited till I had a bunch of different level 50 toons, before really trying to learn how to actually rvr in the frontiers, and boy has it been painful to learn, slow as I am at picking up new skills.

But at least now with the BG's so active, I can use them to get a better feel for any toon I want to try out and see where I can take em in smallish rvr, till I decide to take the class to lvl 50.
