Board Rules
The full list of board rules can be found on our Board Rules/FAQ page. As a poster, it is your responsibility to read and understand these rules before posting. If you have any questions about the rules, please contact a local moderator for clarification.
Rules and Rule Clarifications Specific to this Forum:
Board Type:
This board is an Information-Specific Forum. As such, it is dedicated to a single aspect of a single game, and posts are on topic. Off-topic posting is not allowed.
We recognize that some players (and former players) of Asheron's Call do not like that Turbine allows third-party utilities to be used with Asheron's Call; however, understand this board is about these utilities. This is NOT the place to discuss, criticize, or debate Turbine's policies, and is definitely not the place to rant.
If you wish to discuss Turbine's AC policies, the AC General and AC Developer boards are more appropriate. Please be sure you read the Community Information Thread on those boards before posting, to ensure you comply with local board rules.
Posting how much you believe 3rd-party utilities, their developers or users, or Turbine have hurt the game or starting threads we know are going to end up in large "bash fests/flames," is going to end up with your post being deleted. For more info on ranting, please see the Ranting Rule.
Conversely, discussing the use third party tools to violate Turbine's CoC is not allowed here and will result in moderated posts. This includes using tools to macro combat unattended (UCM), harass other players, to dupe items, or to cause server stability issues.
Example Topics:
Utility Announcement - Announcing utilities that are available for Asheron's Call is encouraged if the Utility is both free and within Turbine's Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.
How to Use A Specific Utility - If you have questions on how to a specific plugin check the posts at the top of the board (the Stickies) and see if that utility is listed with address, there may be a link information already available.
Looking for A Utility that has a Specific Feature - If you are looking for a utility that has a feature and cannot find it, ask, There may be one available. If not, there may be someone may add it to an existing one.
Having a problem with a Specific Utility - There are a large variety of posters on this board, some quite experienced and some total novices. Try to be specific as you can be with your question and provide as much information as possible. If you are having trouble with a decal plugin, please read *** ATTENTION: Before you request help with plugins or with Decal... *** before posting a questions.
Assistance Writing Utilities - Questions specific to writing utilities for Asheron's Call are allowed. Such as how to information writing for Decal plugins and filters, source of examples. General questions about programming however should be directed to boards more suited to discussing programming.
Specific Topics to Avoid:
Asking for Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for programs, patches, or updates - Although these technically are on topic, the threads are annoying and the people that know that information will post it when ready.
Discussing What is Unattended Combat Macroing - The point where Attended Macroing becomes Unattended Macroing has been established by Turbine as be physically attending the compute while running the macro and able to respond to an Administrator. Discussing how to get around it is against the Board Rules here and accusing some one of Unattended Macroing is also against the Board Rules. Again, if you want to debate Turbine's rules and policies, use the General board.
General Guidelines:
Please be as clear as you can be when posting on the AC Utilities board. This board is for discussing technical topics and is not a place to catch up with friends or discussions of general humor.
Try to be constructive in your posts. If you have nothing to add to the thread, please do not post. Demeaning another poster or posting meaningless information will be moderated, and repeat violations could result in your VN account being banned.
Please do not "tag" posts, if you would like to find the post, copy the URL and send a PM to yourself for safe keeping. It also give you a chance to put some reminder text on why you want to look at the post later.
