I just had to reinstall AC, and I dont want to DL every port/landblock/etc I encounter. Is there a place where I can DL a more complete cell dat file?

You could get it off of another person who plays ac.
I have been thinking of hosting this on my webserver.
But since the decal devs trust nothing I say "cause they are the gods of all that exist" I don't think I need too.
I might give you a link privately if you want. Scan it all you want to make sure. I am not worried.

what danger is there in a cell.dat file for viruses?
it's not like you can execute the cell.dat.... and unless there is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the ac client that I'm unaware of, I don't think even storing a virus in the cell.dat would really do anything either. *shrug*
Turbine used to host cell.dat files on their site.. you can try taking a look at the Downloads section and see when the last time they updated it was. At least it will get you to that point.

actually, I believe they do have the latest d/l available on the Turbine site (at least, up to the previous patch that is...)
check the download section at http://ac.turbine.com/

The only thing available (on Turbine's web site) is the full install as of July, 2005 (minus the high resolution graghics file). There are probably personal sites that have the data files.

Although there isn't a link to it on Turbine's site anymore the old http://download.turbine.com/ac1/ac1data.zip link still works and surprise, it's the client_portal.dat and client_cell_1.dat of last month. So while it isn't a complete update its close. Enjoy.
