Is there anyway that the bot spams can be moved to something like ACtrade was?
IE hard coded as emotes.
ATM I think it goes to whatever you have checked as the default chat. ( I havent looked into it that much to be honest)
On FF we have some very rude bots that are insisting on spamming general/trade ect.. Its quite annoying and nothing that can be done about it besides squelch. The other day I was actually watching my tradebot.. Was trying to help someone who was having problems with the new syntax.. Its basically impossible to have any sort of conversation with all the bot spams..
While this might not be a " hot item " that needs to be fixed, maybe somewhere down the line this feature could be added/fixed..

Eh. not sure how that would help bro. If they (bot owners) cant spam on area chat, they'll just spam the emotes
What I do is move area chat to channel 4; same place i put /cg, /clfg, when im in MP

its not ment to stop the bot spam.. its ment to contain the bot spam to one area..

I'm not sure if it can or not, I would need to check.
But even if it could, it would be a waste of good time to try to disable it. A 5 line AC Macro script would do it just fine with Mule Trade It! not even involved.
This is an area that needs to be addressed by social engineering (aka, don't buy from spam bots)...But as long as the advertising is effective, people are gonna use it.

thats true..
but how many ppl can use ACtool enough to know how to do this.. or who can bother themselfs to do it..
Lets face it the majority of AC ppl are well lazy.. they want the click and go stuff..
yea it might not effect the smart wana-be programmers.. but it would stop alot of ppl..

For those that can't do it themselves, there are lots of people willing to post scripts that do it.
Just look at the 'drinking bird' scripts for El Tank out there....

I think it might be helpful to at least not allow it in the program. Then people would at least know that there is social stigma.

Just checked the code...
ACHooks.InvokeChatParser "/say " & nextAd.text & " -t-"
So as best I can tell, if you are seeing spam ads in GC or TC, it is NOT coming from Mule Trader. I suppose I could test it later, but it's probly the kind of thing that a current user could confirm and save me the time.
p.s. It also removes green text.
