Looking for a complete model set from AC, including heightmap, all creatures/characters. Is this even possible to pull from a AC:TD CD?

PM me please with any info.

If you know how to extract the data properly from the DAT files.

the answer currently is no.

and I don't know how.

If you want the data, you'll need to learn how to extract it from the dat files. Not many people here could help you with that.

I believe what Drakier is getting at is that all the graphic information is stored inside the dat files. The missing piece is the 'how'. How does the client software know which graphic elements make up a Male Tusker? More importantly. How does the client take these graphic elements and render them together to make a complete model?

I do not believe there is anyone that knows this information that willing to share it. I think it is fair assumption that there are present or past Turbine staff that know this answer but they are not going provide it.

For the mapping information, you might want to talk to developers of some of the mapping programs or route finders.

Note: I do not believe there is much difference between the ACM and AC:TOD dat files. Both ACM and AC:TOD use the same physic and graphics engine.

correct... getting information out of the dat file is easy now that kgober has released his DatUtilities..

the problem isn't getting the data as much as it is getting th ecorrect format of the data and being able to read it ALL properly..

the DatUtilities allow you to extract a "file" from the dat. the problem is that the "file" is just a blob of binary data. That binary data has to be converted into whatever readable format that can be used for whatever purpose you want to use it for... that is the "how" that is hard.. not the GETTING of the data as much as how to change it and turn it into what you want
