getting this error message
X Can't open the data files. Check that they Exist and that you have permission to write to them. The program will now exit.

you might need to clear the paths, and re-set them up.
best thing to do is click Clear PAths and then close and reopen ACDualClient. When it launches again, it will go through the First-Time Setup. Choose the Basic option and just set everything accordingly. Most things should be left default except the path to AC unless you did a Default installation on AC:ToD.
That process should copy all the files from the primary path specified to the secondary path. It should work properly then.

running windows 2k
brother doesnt have this problem on his desktop tho
tried making new desktop get same problem

Try uninstalling Dual Client then reinstalling it from your desktop.

Well.. that error suggests that you're either missing files in one of your AC Paths, your ACDualClient is only configured for one path instead of two, or your files are marked as read-only.
The error is not an ACDualClient error nor something ACDualClient directly has control over. It is an error from the ACLauncher and ACClient. Make sure that all paths listed in ACDualClient exist, and contain writeable copies of all of the needed files. It's best to attempt to manually log in to each of the paths separately by hand one at a time first, and then try using ACDualClient to dual log.
