Author Topic: Framerate slowdown with Decal windows open [Locked]

Whenever I open a decal window in the game, my framerate goes down to like 1 frame per second. It does not matter which plugin or which window is opened. I tried all sorts of combinations of plugins and the only difference is that some decal windows slow me down more than others.

Sometimes, I can restart my computer, start up the game with decal, and the problem goes away. Other times I restart my computer, and the problem returns.

What do you guys think I should try? Here is my decal export.

I uninstalled my video driver, and reinstalled it. It seems to have solved the problem. I will post here if the problem returns.

The problem actually came back after a few days, but I've figured it out. The problem was the ATI control panel that comes with the driver. For some reason, after a few restarts, my performance goes way down on all games. If I uninstall the driver and control panel, then install the driver only, the problem never returns. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? Could it be that SMARTGART thing that screws it up?

I've got exactly the same graphics card, and I've had no end of problems with it. I get BSoD's on a regular basis, and my framerate still halves when I've got a decal window open. Didn't think it would be the control panel though, I'll try uninstalling it.

I also had to roll back to catalyst version 6.4 if that helps you. The new drivers don't seem to work well on the 9800 Pro.

I also have the same card.....from time to time it will crash. I've tried pretty much everything to correct my problems, it seems to work ok with the last driver download.....here's what I have.
