When my son uses Lifetank on his computer, it won't LOOT, though as far as I can tell the settings are the same as on my machine. Same load, latest and greatests, etc. Any ideas?

I'd try uninstalling Lifetank, deleting the Lifetank DIR (C:\program files\Lifetank X is the default) and reinstalling Lifetank. This will delete all the profiles so you will have to rebuild them...
Sometimes, for whatever reason, the profiles/loot settings getting corrupted and makes things act weird.
