What programming languages do you know?

How many years of experience do you have in each language?

What do you want your plugin to do (this is required as some plugins require certain knowledge to accomplish which is hard to self-teach or be taught online [such as linear algebra and trigonometry])

No offense meant, but JavaScript really isn't a good stepping stone to writing a Decal plugin. Nowadays an understanding a the .Ne environment is probably the best way to go although VB6 will still work.

No offense meant here, but JScript is not necessarily a proper foundation to learn Decal Plugin development.

In addition to that, a Looting plugin is one of the more complex plugins you can write. It takes very careful implementation planning and the logic required to get it to operate properly and flexibly is very very difficult.

If you can program in C# then that would be a good place to start with writing a Decal plugin.

If you are familiar mostly with scripting languages, you might want to look at skunkworks. It can hide many of the details that can lead to plugins interfering with game play.
