I have a new computer, so where can I find decal and any other downloads it needs to run? Also I am running vista 64 bit, so any advice on set up would be appreciated, thanks

Don't install Decal in the default directories. I put it in my /Games directory.

The main decal update site is down and the temporary mirror doesn't have the supplementary files for decal installation (DirectX setup and .NET 2.0).


You can get the DirectX setup from here: Web Setup ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 ) or Full Download ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=886acb56-c91a-4a8e-8bb8-9f20f1244a8e ). Even if you have DX9 installed, you may not have the required DX9 update for Decal.


Use Windows Update ( http://update.microsoft.com ) to get the .NET framework 2.0 if you don't already have it installed. If it's not listed on Windows Update, then you already have it.


After you've installed those two items, you can get the Decal installer from http://decal.dreagis.com/Decal.msi (official mirror). I believe that version doesn't have the pre-req checks, and won't fail when it can't download the DX installer.

When I try to update Decal I get an error message that one of the files being update is in use-close all applications and try again. then it tells me update complete but all the boxes are red x

Okies, got decal working, will tell how I did it incase it might help someone else or just so peeps can laugh, I am NOT computer savy. (vista home premium 64 os users)


Copied Decal off of my old computer onto new one into programs x86


couldn't create object so downloaded from post above: from http://decal.dreagis.com/Decal.msi


Chose "change" option (repair didn't work) and set all the drop down menus to full on local HD


clicked finish and it worked!


thanks to all for your help Decal has kept me playing AC all these years so I really appreciate all the Hard work the decal devs and people who make plugins put into it!


Now if I can just get Dual client to work.....heh
