Ever since the March patch, my decal will not work at all. Even when I can get it to load up, either AC crashes or none of the plugins actually work.

I run Windows 7 64x. I have run everything as Administrator. My AC is in c:\program files\turbine\AC. My decal 3.0 file is in the c:\program files (86x). And my vtank files and decal plugins are all in c:\games.

If anyone can help, please do. If you need more information, I will supply.

Here is the export from my decal:

take your turbine\AC from your c:\program files\turbine\AC and place it in your games folder and see if that works that should do it

Ok, so I moved my Turbine folder into the games folder. I updated Decal, selecting the new location of the AC folder. Decal doesn't load at all.

So, the contents of the Games folder are:

Decal Plugins Folder

Turbine Folder

Virindi Plugins Folder

ICSharp.SharpZipLib.dll File

Virindi Installer File

So, any other suggestions?

Uninstall all and reinstall decal/plugins?

Reinstall to Decal to something like C:\Games\Decal. Reinstall plugins to C:\Games\Decal Plugins.

Simply "moving" folders to others probably won't fix the problem. Would think they need to be "installed" into those folders.

So, do I have to reinstall AC as well? Since AC wasn't in the C:\Games folder from install? Or just decal and the plugins? And as far as I could tell, the decal installer did not let me choose where to install it to....

Should be no need to uninstall AC - just Decal and the plugins.

And yes, it will let you select the folders. Some will, by default, try to install to the Program Files folder. Don't let it. Change it.

The issue with installing to Program Files folder, is, I guess Vista and Windows 7 protects those folders, and while you can install programs into it, it appears for security purposes, it won't let those programs write/save files/update databases/memlocs, etc, to those folders.

So, I would go to the Control Panel and remove those plugins first, then Decal. Since you moved the folders, it may not find the plugins to uninstall. You probably would move them back for uninstall purposes -or-, run the uninstall, and if it doesn't find it, delete the appropriate folder for the plugin you were trying to uninstall.

Once you have done that for all of them, as well as Decal, reboot, install decal first, then the plugins.

I am far from an expert, but, from similar issues, I think some of this will fix the problem.
