Hello,
I'm having some strange problems with AC on my new computer. I just got a new machine, installed Windows 7 on it, then went back, formatted and reinstalled XP (I was having strange network problems with AC, constantly getting disconnected, etc). Anyway, XP is working fine, except I've been having a problem I've never seen before with Decal. It's almost as if the game's graphics get stuck or get behind the server communication. It doesn't happen at all when I don't run Decal, but when I do, my character constantly jumps and warps around (as if I had a bad connection/packet loss), except that my ping is stable between 70-110 and I never see any PL.

Also, other players spell animations get out of sync with the spell effects. For instance, a buffbot begins casting spells, then by the end of the buff routine the animations are so far out of sync that it looks like he's still casting for at least 10 seconds after he actually finishes buffing. It's very bizarre. I've also been having sporadic problems with vTank and Alinco - likely related to the weird client-side lag I'm experiencing.

Troubleshooting steps taken so far:
- Disabled all plugins but still running Decal - no effect
- Reinstalled MS XML and .NET runtimes (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0) - no effect
- Updated to latest ATI video card drivers - no effect
- Disabled Decal - problem disappears

Any ideas? This is very frustrating. On my previous computer (also an XP install), I never had this problem, and I ran basically the same plugins and versions of everything. I also obviously had the same stable network connection on that machine.

i know that there is extreme lag when you have native decal windows open, but I haven't heard of anything when all of the plugins are disabled. I can't even fight anymore if I have something like QuestTimer window open.

Try disabling the hotkey system in decal. I turned it off on my system and it helped me with framerates. Not sure why thought since it shouldn't effect anything with graphics.

Thanks for the responses. The only thing is, it really doesn't *seem* like solely a framerate issue. I mean, yes, with decal running my frame rate is lower than it would otherwise be, but it's not a constant jerkiness or warping - it's every now and then (sometimes every 3-4 seconds, sometimes 8-10). I have not yet been able to discern a pattern to what makes it happen or not happen. Sometimes it doesn't happen for several minutes.

My question is: why is this happening on this new machine (which has a FAR better graphics card and much faster processor), when it ran smooth as silk on my old one?

decal is an old program that hasn't been updated in like 5 years. Just because you have nice new shiny graphics doesn't mean that the software will work any better for you. In fact, people with cards in SLI actually have worse framerates.

My recent experience with a new system is that have any Alinco 3 hud's open TANKS my framerate bigtime.
Granted I'm now on shiney fast system running Win 7, but I have a gig video card, 8 gigs system ram and multi core cpu, win 7 64bit. there are some indoor places that'll tank the frame rates, but Alinco 3 Hud's will do that ANYWHERE, just hide them and I don't see it. So I 'Set it and Forget it' (apologies to Ronco for stealing thier phrase).
But I don't understand your having the issue with the plug-ins unchecked.....

That's what is driving me bananas! I just tried it with the decal hotkey system disabled, and it didn't affect the problem at all. It's very bizarre. Any other ideas? Am I missing something in the export? What about those mfc dll's? I notice I don't have any of those installed, and I see other people's exports where they have one or more of those. Could that be affecting it?

Try making the ingame Decal bar smaller i have it set so that it only displays one icon at a time.

improves my framerates bye a lot.
