Updating instructions


Go Arrow:

1) Open Go Arrow and go to Atlas > Update

2) Change the URL to wherever you saved the new data_cod.xml file. (In my case C:\data_cod.xml)

3) Make sure Database Type is set to Crossroads of Dereth.

4) Click Update, when Finished click Update a Second time.

* Current number of locations in database: 4,977 (Normal)
* Current number of locations in database: 4,876 (Non TN)

Or:

1) Open Go Arrow and go to Atlas > Update

2) Change the URL to <One of the URLs Below>

1) Back Up your existing data_cod.xml file located at C:\Program Files\Dereth Explorer\Data\data_cod.xml by default

2) Copy the new Data_cod.xml file to C:\program files\Dereth Explorer\Data\

If you happen to notice any errors, Wrong locations / Coordinates, mis-spellings, errors with the quest(s) attached to any location or NPC, ect. ect. Thank you for the link. The "official" CoD Database gets their update monthly from me. I had included their link a couple months back, but was informed by some that updating via that link causes GoArrow/.net to crash, so I stopped adding it to my monthly post.

If the link however works, by all means feel free to use it.

I do my update monthly, then test the newest .xml on my copies of GoArrow and Dereth Explorer. If all looks ok to me (not to say things don't slip through lol) then I update all my places to Download it from, and e-mail a copy to Tim Turner at Themis-Media (CoD's Parent Company), which in turn he updates the CoD database (usually takes a couple days).

yes i also have experianced some issues trying to get it to update and various errors. here is what i figured out. when you copy and pasted the link in you must get your cursor inactive in the field. if you dont you get xml errors.

I think that all of the town portals from Umbral Hall are still in the database. Would you please check for all references to 75.8S, 83.1E? The only portals linked there should be the entrance portal to Umbral Hall, and a portal to Freehold (the only town portal not destroyed when the Town Network was created).

update files have been updated to reflect the removed portals from Umbral Hall. All the files will have the change included with the November Patch release.

I may have found a couple more:


* The town portals in the Jungle Shadows dungeon are still present in the database. There should only be the Jungle Shadows entrance, North Direlands and South Direlands portals at the following coordinates: 69.3S, 94.5E. All of the town portals have been destroyed. http://ac.wikkii.net/wiki/Jungle_Shadows


* The town portals in the Abandoned Mine also appear to still be in the database. There should only be the Abandoned Mine entrance and Underground City portal at the following coordinates: 34.9N, 54.6E. All of the other town portals have been destroyed. http://ac.wikkii.net/wiki/Abandoned_Mine

Are the others showing up in GoArrow/Dereth Explorer? or did you verify them via the xml file?

If it was via the file, I have left everything in the database, but there is a flag <Retired> appended to every entry. I have flagged all the original portals as retired and they should not be showing up in GoArrow/Dereth Explorer. I have checked my GoArrow and the only Abandoned Mines Portal I have is to the Underground City.
