Personally, I love my Macbook.
Never had issues with any of my Macs, even my 6 year old 17" Imac is going strong.

depends what you are doing with it.
if you spend most of your time doing 'creative' things like photo/movie creation - a mac is a good choice
if you spend most of your time gaming or installing lots of oddball software just for fun - windows is most open for that.
if you just want to browse the internet and do e-mail as basic functions - linux is cheaper and will do that nicely.
there are obviously other considerations, but it really depends on why you are getting the laptop.
