I actually tried using a dumbbell with my right arm yesterday.

And was surprised I could actually do some benching, curling, and rows. And even more surprised today I have muscle soreness. I didn't think I would be able to lift enough weight to cause that. I only used 17.5 pounds. That should go up pretty fast.

I thought so too. And since it was a progressive stroke and my recovery was delayed by 3 months I kind of thinking I might have the normal one year recovery a stroke victim has spread out over 2 or 3 years. The gains are very slow but after 12 months are still happening right now.
