I moved to Wichita with my first day on the job on 01/17. However, this was not a long term contract and I was still taking calls for permanent employment positions. In the 3rd week of Jan. I received a call from a recruiter who said that I was the best possible candidate for a small company called Results Direct Marketing (he claimed that I was the top criteria match on Monster). At the end of Feb RDM made an offer and I accepted, giving my current employer\project two weeks notice. The VP of the project I was working on thought that the company name that I mentioned seemed very familiar. It seems that the fellow that I was replacing recently started working at the company where I was working and was sitting 5 cubicles down from me and was working as a consultant on the end result database that I was converting to, ETLing from. The fellow was even at my debriefing meeting last Friday. Nothing to worry about though, he left on good terms and was upbeat about his previous employer, but wanted a greater set of responsibilities and a change of venue (he had worked at RDM for 11 years).
I was simply amazed, lol.
(Wichita is not that small with a population of about 400,000, so it is still an extremely unlikely occurrence.)
