Since I work nights I use it as a DVR, catch shows I missed at work. Works pretty well. Disc mailing is still essential to like netflix though.

I use it through my 360, along with Netflix. I don't have cable. I do have an antenna but I rarely watch it other than for sport events

It's pretty awesome, I don't miss TV in that I watch all the exact same shows but I don't waste an enormous amount of time during the day just flipping through channels. You kinda gotta know what's on and when sort of. I was never one to really wait every week to see a new episode kinda guy though.

My friend does that and doesn't have cable.

The only reason we have cable is for sports and the few shows we tivo that aren't carried on netflix or hulu or take forever to get new episodes.
