A Brooklyn man is accused of killing his roommate after a fight, chopping up the body in the bathtub and storing the parts in bags and bottles of acid inside the refrigerator in their Sheepshead Bay apartment, authorities said.
Sergey Mamonov, 49, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned Wednesday evening and held without bail. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
Sources familiar with the case tell NBC New York that Mamonov told investigators he fought with the victim 10 days ago, punching him repeatedly. After the beating, he did not feel a pulse.
According to sources, Mamonov told police it took him several days to cut up the body, which he did in the bathtub. He said he cut off his roommate's fingers and threw them into a canal near the home, while storing other remains and small bones in bottles in the refrigerator.
Inside the refrigerator, police found at least 10 bleach bottles, one Drano bottle and a bag -- all containing body parts. They also found a skull in a bucket.
Leg and arm bones were stashed in the fridge.
Police have video showing Mamonov carrying garbage bags out of the apartment, and have recovered bags of clothing and other items belonging to the victim. Police also have receipts from stores where they believe Mamonov bought bleach and acid.
The two men, who were roommates for six months, were known to fight and the police had been called to the apartment at least eight times before, law enforcement sources said.
Police went to the apartment after a friend of the victim went to a police precinct to report her friend missing and that she believed the roommate killed him.
The medical examiner is working to identify the body parts.

ou just don't know who lives next door to you," said neighbor Susan Gropack, who lives in the building. "It's such a scary feeling."Mamonov is next due in court April 9.
